as_o to_o our_o acceptance_n with_o god_n or_o to_o the_o increase_n of_o piety_n in_o ourselves_o than_o what_o be_v there_o call_v the_o sacrifice_n of_o fool_n do_v profit_v they_o and_o they_o magnificence_n and_o beauty_n of_o the_o place_n and_o by_o our_o custom_n of_o worship_v god_n there_o to_o think_v of_o his_o glorious_a presence_n and_o fix_v our_o mind_n on_o he_o by_o serious_a meditation_n of_o his_o attribute_n word_n and_o word_n etc._n etc._n i_o say_v this_o â—s_v a_o mighty_a help_n to_o a_o right_a performance_n then_o we_o may_v with_o more_o freedom_n make_v our_o particular_a person_n which_o be_v against_o the_o edification_n of_o the_o church_n nay_o i_o be_o of_o opinion_n it_o be_v no_o charity_n to_o those_o to_o who_o it_o be_v show_v for_o their_o ill_a by_o the_o rod_n to_o reflect_v on_o their_o folly_n and_o to_o see_v the_o necessity_n of_o amendment_n affliction_n be_v god_n way_n of_o teach_v man_n to_o repent_v and_o i_o think_v man_n shall_v not_o think_v to_o find_v any_o better_a therefore_o i_o wish_v that_o if_o scholar_n will_v be_v profane_a they_o may_v know_v they_o must_v be_v poor_a and_o none_o that_o have_v power_n will_v may_v be_v put_v to_o the_o admission_n of_o such_o into_o the_o ministry_n if_o it_o may_v be_v although_o i_o know_v it_o be_v extreme_a difficult_a as_o thing_n stand_v for_o as_o our_o church_n direct_v so_o we_o have_v great_a need_n to_o pray_v at_o this_o time_n that_o god_n will_v so_o guide_v and_o govern_v the_o mind_n of_o the_o bishop_n and_o pastor_n of_o this_o church_n that_o they_o may_v lay_v hand_n sudden_o on_o no_o man_n etc._n etc._n which_o prayer_n i_o hope_v will_v offend_v none_o some_o there_o be_v also_o that_o do_v it_o thus_o slight_o out_o of_o erroneous_a principle_n and_o some_o out_o of_o carnal_a wisdom_n the_o first_o sort_n think_v the_o common_a prayer_n a_o grievous_a imposition_n and_o that_o they_o ought_v to_o be_v leave_v to_o their_o liberty_n to_o pray_v as_o they_o please_v but_o because_o the_o ruler_n will_v have_v it_o so_o they_o submit_v to_o it_o only_o to_o get_v their_o live_n or_o else_o for_o the_o sake_n of_o preach_v which_o be_v of_o so_o great_a necessity_n to_o man_n salvation_n they_o think_v it_o must_v not_o be_v forsake_v though_o they_o be_v force_v to_o accompany_v it_o with_o a_o defective_a disorderly_a form_n as_o they_o think_v we_o be_v and_o they_o hope_v their_o good_a intention_n towards_o man_n salvation_n will_v excuse_v their_o use_v it_o when_o they_o can_v do_v no_o better_o but_o man_n thus_o mind_v will_v make_v what_o have_v they_o can_v to_o rid_v themselves_o of_o what_o be_v burdensome_a and_o so_o ramble_v over_o the_o service_n without_o that_o devotion_n it_o require_v and_o themselves_o with_o go_v to_o church_n these_o be_v chief_o of_o the_o female_a sex_n who_o be_v not_o so_o subject_a to_o be_v encumber_v with_o business_n and_o often_o want_v company_n or_o trouble_v our_o head_n with_o consider_v how_o we_o may_v best_a honour_n and_o please_v he_o give_v we_o the_o riches_n honour_n and_o pleasure_n of_o this_o world_n and_o take_v those_o of_o the_o next_o who_o will_n to_o such_o as_o these_o i_o will_v first_o speak_v if_o it_o be_v possible_a to_o make_v they_o hear_v i_o will_v but_o ask_v they_o if_o they_o be_v in_o the_o place_n of_o almighty_a god_n whether_o they_o will_v endure_v to_o be_v so_o slight_v i_o know_v their_o pride_n will_v help_v here_o to_o show_v they_o their_o own_o folly_n in_o think_v to_o escape_v god_n vengeance_n while_o they_o contemn_v his_o worship_n will_v he_o that_o be_v god_n from_o everlasting_a he_o that_o give_v be_v to_o all_o thing_n and_o bring_v they_o to_o nothing_o at_o his_o own_o pleasure_n be_v disappoint_v of_o the_o honour_n for_o which_o he_o have_v make_v and_o still_o govern_v this_o world_n and_o that_o by_o such_o a_o worm_n as_o man_n and_o not_o vindicate_v the_o same_o will_v he_o not_o take_v that_o glory_n by_o his_o just_a punishment_n which_o they_o will_v not_o give_v in_o the_o office_n of_o divine_a worship_n can_v the_o proud_a think_v to_o resist_v omnipotency_n or_o fly_v from_o omniscience_n nay_o if_o god_n shall_v do_v no_o more_o but_o withdraw_v his_o divine_a influence_n we_o and_o all_o we_o so_o love_v and_o honour_n above_o he_o and_o prepare_v for_o heavenly_a glory_n by_o these_o holy_a exercise_n of_o his_o worship_n this_o make_v they_o love_v the_o place_n where_o they_o may_v see_v and_o enjoy_v he_o to_o these_o great_a purpose_n again_o it_o be_v most_o evident_a to_o consider_v man_n that_o it_o be_v the_o happiness_n of_o the_o state_n of_o innocency_n that_o man_n have_v nothing_o else_o to_o do_v but_o to_o worship_n and_o praise_v his_o maker_n at_o lest_o nothing_o that_o may_v divert_v he_o from_o it_o and_o that_o it_o shall_v be_v our_o chief_a happiness_n in_o the_o state_n of_o glory_n to_o be_v free_v from_o all_o cumbersome_a labour_n and_o care_n and_o all_o distract_n prosecution_n and_o carnal_a pleasure_n and_o that_o we_o shall_v then_o continual_o attend_v divine_a office_n as_o that_o which_o be_v our_o only_a perfect_a bliss_n and_o felicity_n and_o therefore_o shall_v esteem_v ourselves_o the_o more_o happy_a for_o have_v a_o recess_n from_o worldly_a business_n now_o that_o we_o may_v more_o free_o and_o frequent_o attend_v divine_a office_n again_o it_o be_v evident_a that_o god_n who_o first_o make_v all_o thing_n for_o himself_o create_v again_o his_o church_n i_o must_v believe_v these_o kind_n of_o man_n that_o think_v our_o daily_a attendance_n at_o prayer_n be_v be_v righteous_a over_o much_o be_v not_o move_v hereunto_o by_o any_o thing_n of_o reason_n or_o sober_a consideration_n but_o be_v whole_o influence_v by_o pride_n or_o covetousness_n or_o other_o carnal_a affection_n which_o hinder_v the_o exercise_n of_o their_o rational_a faculty_n and_o make_v they_o live_v more_o of_o the_o animal_n than_o the_o divine_a life_n i._n e._n more_o like_a beast_n than_o man_n and_o so_o long_o as_o they_o be_v such_o we_o must_v expect_v no_o other_o language_n from_o they_o for_o the_o carnal_a mind_n a_o man_n that_o discourse_v as_o a_o mere_a animal_n perceive_v not_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n neither_o can_v he_o know_v that_o which_o ignorance_n error_n or_o the_o corruption_n of_o time_n have_v introduce_v into_o that_o purge_v out_o in_o this_o i_o say_v the_o satisfaction_n they_o will_v find_v in_o consider_v the_o inward_a joy_n and_o peace_n that_o result_v therefrom_o the_o excitation_n of_o our_o love_n to_o god_n and_o the_o exercise_v thereof_o in_o holy_a adoration_n and_o cheerful_a praise_n the_o increase_n of_o our_o love_n to_o one_o another_o by_o holy_a communion_n in_o such_o sacred_a office_n these_o and_o such_o like_a which_o will_v be_v the_o effect_n of_o attend_v this_o service_n touch_v these_o thing_n in_o so_o short_a a_o discourse_n to_o persuade_v a_o constant_a attendance_n on_o the_o public_a prayer_n 2_o i_o shall_v say_v somewhat_o also_o to_o persuade_v a_o endeavour_n of_o a_o right_a performance_n which_o even_o those_o be_v in_o danger_n not_o to_o do_v who_o daily_o frequent_v these_o holy_a office_n education_n custom_n and_o various_a interest_n exercise_v that_o fervent_a love_n to_o god_n and_o to_o our_o bless_a saviour_n and_o that_o divine_a joy_n in_o the_o hope_n of_o glory_n to_o come_v and_o to_o fore-taste_a the_o blessedness_n we_o shall_v partake_v of_o in_o the_o communion_n of_o saint_n above_o in_o these_o exercise_n wherein_o as_o saint_n we_o have_v communion_n here_o below_o and_o will_v to_o that_o purpose_n attend_v more_o diligent_o to_o the_o preparation_n wherewith_o they_o shall_v come_v to_o worship_n and_o to_o those_o expression_n whereby_o they_o honour_n god_n while_o they_o do_v so_o therefore_o i_o disposition_n can_v be_v attain_v but_o by_o serious_a and_o frequent_a meditation_n for_o there_o be_v a_o connexion_n in_o the_o duty_n of_o religion_n which_o make_v it_o impossible_a to_o
