who_o scandalous_a provision_n make_v too_o many_o scandalous_a incumbent_n which_o be_v one_o of_o the_o great_a disease_n and_o misery_n of_o this_o church_n but_o a_o due_a care_n in_o this_o matter_n have_v no_o relation_n to_o the_o accumulation_n of_o live_n at_o great_a distance_n every_o one_o of_o which_o can_v well_o support_v a_o incumbent_n upon_o the_o same_o person_n mere_o for_o the_o make_n of_o a_o family_n for_o the_o support_v of_o luxury_n or_o vanity_n or_o for_o other_o base_a and_o covetous_a design_n but_o i_o go_v next_o to_o two_o of_o the_o worst_a council_n that_o ever_o carry_v the_o name_n of_o general_a one_o the_o three_o and_o the_o four_o of_o the_o lateran_n that_o we_o may_v see_v what_o be_v the_o sense_n of_o the_o twefth_n and_o thirteen_o century_n in_o this_o matter_n notwithstanding_o the_o corruption_n of_o those_o age_n the_o thirteen_o canon_n of_o the_o three_o lateran_n council_n run_v thus_o forasmuch_o as_o some_o who_o covetousness_n have_v no_o bound_n endeavour_v to_o procure_v to_o themselves_o divers_a ecclesiastical_a dignity_n and_o several_a parish_n church_n against_o the_o provision_n of_o the_o holy_a canon_n by_o which_o mean_n though_o they_o be_v scarce_o able_a to_o perform_v the_o office_n of_o one_o they_o do_v claim_v the_o provision_n due_a to_o many_o we_o do_v severe_o require_v that_o this_o may_v not_o be_v do_v for_o the_o future_a and_o therefore_o when_o any_o church_n or_o ecclesiastical_a ministry_n be_v to_o be_v give_v let_v such_o a_o one_o be_v seek_v out_o for_o it_o as_o shall_v reside_v upon_o the_o place_n and_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o discharge_v the_o care_n in_o his_o own_o person_n if_o otherwise_o he_o who_o receive_v any_o such_o benefice_n contrary_a to_o the_o canon_n shall_v lose_v it_o and_o he_o who_o give_v it_o shall_v likewise_o lose_v his_o right_n of_o patronage_n this_o canon_n not_o be_v find_v effectual_a to_o cure_v so_o great_a a_o abuse_n the_o twenty_o nine_o canon_n of_o the_o four_o council_n in_o the_o lateran_n be_v pen_v in_o these_o word_n it_o be_v with_o great_a care_n forbid_v in_o the_o council_n of_o the_o lateran_n
