Chapter BEcause iniquitie shall haue the vpper hand the loue of many shall abate But he that endureth to the ende the same shal be safe As the lyghtnyng commeth out of the Easte and shineth into the west so shall the commyng of the sonne of man be Wheresoeuer a deade carkas is euen thyther wyll the Egles reforte Immediatiye after the tribulacions of those dayes shall the sunne be darkened and the Mone shall not geue her lyght and the starres shall fall from heauen and the powers of heauē shall moue And then shall appere the signe of the sonne of mā in heauen and then shall all the kynreddes of the Earthe mourne and they shall see the sonne of mā come in the cloudes of heauen with power and great glorie And he shall send his angels with the greate voyce of a trompe and they shall gather to gether his chosen from the foure wyndes and frō the one ende of the worlde to the other Heauen and earth shall perishe but my woordes shal abyde But of that daye and houre knoweth noman no not the aungels of heauen but my father onely Wake therefore because ye knowe not what houre youre mayster wyll come Be ye also readye for in the houre ye thynke he wolde not wyll the sonne of manne come The .xxv. Chapter WAtche for ye knowe neither the daye nor yet the houre when the sonne of man shall come Vnto euery manne that hathe shal be geuen and he shal haue abundance and from hym that hath not shal be taken awaye euen that he hathe When the sonne of man commeth in his glory and all the holy aungels with him then shall he syt vpon the seate of his glory and before hym shal be gathered all nacions and he shall separate them one from another as a shepe hearde deuideth the shepe from the goates And he shall sette the shepe on his righte hande and the goates on the lyfte Then shall the kyng saye to them on his right hande Come ye blessed chyldren of my father inherite ye the kingdome prepared for you frō the beginning of the worlde For I was an hongred and ye gaue me meate c. Then shall the righteous answere hym sayinge Maister whan sawe we thee an hongred and feede thee c. Chapter WHat neded this waste this oyntment might haue bene well sold and geuen to the poore when Iesus vnderstode that he sayd vnto thē why trouble you the woman she hath wrought a good worke vpon For ye shall haue poore folke alwayes with you but me shall ye not haue alwayes And in that she casted this oyntment on my body she did it to burie me withall Verely I saye vnto you whersoeuer this gospell shall be preached throughoute all the worlde there shall also this that she hathe done be tolde for a memoriall of her As they did eate Iesus toke bread and gaue thankes brake it and gaue it to the disciples and sayde Take eate this is my bodye And he toke the cup and thanked and gaue it them sayinge drinke of it euery one For this is my bloud of the newe testament that shal be shedde for manye for the remission of synnes And he came vnto the disciples and founde them a slepe and sayde to Peter what coulde ye not watche with me one houre watche and praye that ye fall not into temptacion The spirite is wyllyng but the fleshe is weake Put vp thy swearde into his sheathe for all that laye hande on the swearde shall perishe with the swearde The .xxvii. Chapter ANd beholde the vayle of the temple didde rent in twayne from the toppe to the bottome and the earthe did quake and the stones did rente and graues did open and the bodye of many saynetes whiche slepte arose and came oute of the graues after his resurrection and came into the holy citie and appered vnto many And Iesus came and spake vnto them saying al power is geuē vnto me in heauen and in earth Go therfore and teache all nacions baptising thē in the name of the father and the sonne and the holy ghost teachinge them to obserue all thynges whatsoeuer I commaūded
Iewes excepte they washe their handes ofte eate not obseruing the traditions of the elders And when they come frome the markette excepte they washe they eat● not This people honoureth me with their lippes but their herte is farre frome me In vaine they worshippe me teachyng doctrines whiche are nothinge but the commaundementes of men For ye laye the commaundementes of God aparte and obserue the traditions of menne as the wasshyng of cruses and of cuppes and many other suche like thinges ye do Whosoeuer cursseth father or mother lette him dye for it There is nothing withoute a manne that can defyle hym when it entreth into hym but those thinges whiche pcede out of him are these which defyle the man It is not mete to take the chyldrens breade to cast it vnto whelppes She answered and sayde vnto him euen so master neuerthelesse the whelppes also eate vnder the table of the chyldrens crowmes They brought vnto him one that was deffe and stambred in his speche and prayde him to put his hande vpon him and he toke him a syde from● the people and put his fyngers in his eares and dyd spyt and couched his counge and loked vp to heauen and sighthed and saide vnto him Ephatha that is to saye be opened And strayght waye his eare were opened and the stringe of his tonge was lowsed and he spake plaine The .viii. Euen so yf thyne eye offendethe pluck him out for it is better c. The .x. Chyldren howe hard is it for them that trust in ryches to enter into the kyngdome of heauen It is easier for a camell to go thorowe the eye of a nedle then for a ryche manne to enter into the kyngdome of god Verely I saye vnto you there is no man that forsaketh house or brethren or sisters or father or mother or wyfe other children or landes for my sake and the gospels whiche shall not receyue and hondred folde nowe in this lyfe houses and brethren and sisters and mothers and chyldren and landes with persecucions and in the world to come eternall lyfe To sitte on my righte hande and on my lefte hande is not myne to geue but to them for whom it is prepared Ye know that they which seme to beare rule among the Gentiles raygne as lordes ouer them and they that be great among them exercise authoritie ouer them So shal it not be among you but whosoeuer of you wyll
