comprehend_v neither_o can_v a_o man_n say_v that_o to_o be_v clean_o abolish_v and_o put_v away_o which_o be_v rather_o repair_v and_o bring_v into_o a_o better_a state_n but_o it_o chance_v in_o this_o behalf_n as_o in_o a_o tree_n that_o bear_v fruit_n which_o when_o the_o blossom_n thereof_o do_v vanish_v and_o fall_v away_o then_o in_o their_o stead_n do_v follow_v the_o pleasant_a fruit_n itself_o or_o as_o in_o the_o steed_n of_o the_o vanish_v shadow_n do_v follow_v the_o very_a perfect_a and_o lively_a body_n the_o four_o chapter_n he_o declare_v by_o the_o example_n of_o abraham_n that_o faith_n only_o justify_v and_o not_o the_o law_n nor_o the_o work_n thereof_o and_o if_o there_o be_v any_o amongst_o the_o jew_n that_o so_o stiff_o will_v hold_v the_o ceremony_n of_o moses_n throughout_o all_o jewry_n which_o although_o that_o he_o be_v the_o father_n of_o all_o the_o jew_n as_o touch_v his_o flesh_n yet_o notwithstanding_o the_o same_o be_v father_n to_o all_o man_n which_o do_v represent_v he_o in_o the_o similitude_n of_o faith_n 2._o and_o do_v declare_v he_o in_o the_o image_n of_o his_o mind_n and_o not_o of_o his_o body_n for_o circumcision_n which_o as_o i_o say_v before_o be_v first_o give_v unto_o abraham_n as_o a_o earnest_n and_o a_o seal_n and_o as_o one_o will_v say_v a_o privy_a badge_n or_o token_n of_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n by_o which_o only_a badge_n the_o jew_n be_v call_v jew_n yet_o let_v we_o consider_v with_o ourselves_o what_o this_o mighty_a father_n do_v obtain_v for_o the_o scripture_n do_v great_o praise_v and_o commend_v he_o which_o commendation_n &_o praise_n if_o it_o come_v unto_o he_o by_o circumcision_n or_o else_o by_o the_o observance_n of_o other_o thing_n appoint_v in_o moses_n law_n i_o can_v not_o deny_v but_o he_o have_v occasion_n to_o glory_n but_o the_o glory_n be_v not_o with_o god_n but_o with_o man_n and_o why_o with_o man_n very_o because_o he_o have_v the_o bodily_a sign_n &_o note_n whereby_o he_o be_v only_o know_v to_o be_v a_o jew_n and_o why_o not_o with_o god_n because_o the_o praise_n come_v not_o through_o the_o excellency_n of_o faith_n abraham_n which_o be_v the_o very_a only_a thing_n that_o commend_v all_o man_n to_o the_o perfect_v clearness_n of_o the_o face_n of_o god_n but_o abraham_n to_o speak_v more_o of_o he_o obtain_v the_o praise_n of_o justification_n with_o god_n himself_o therefore_o it_o come_v not_o to_o he_o by_o the_o observation_n of_o the_o law_n but_o only_o by_o the_o true_a faith_n which_o all_o the_o jew_n and_o also_o all_o gentile_n shall_v diligent_o search_v for_o as_o the_o love_a child_n of_o faithful_a abraham_n and_o let_v this_o which_o i_o now_o say_v be_v take_v to_o none_o effect_n unless_o the_o holy_a scripture_n do_v true_o approve_v the_o same_o for_o thus_o you_o shall_v read_v in_o the_o book_n of_o genesis_n the_o xu_o chapter_n abraham_n believe_v in_o god_n 2._o and_o his_o belief_n be_v impute_v unto_o he_o for_o his_o justification_n god_n promise_v he_o that_o his_o posterity_n shall_v be_v in_o number_n equal_a to_o the_o star_n of_o heaven_n at_o such_o time_n as_o his_o wife_n be_v barren_a and_o have_v no_o child_n yet_o for_o all_o that_o he_o doubt_v nothing_o at_o all_o trust_v to_o the_o promise_n of_o almighty_a god_n neither_o mark_v he_o what_o it_o be_v that_o be_v promise_v unto_o he_o but_o who_o be_v the_o promiser_n thereof_o and_o so_o forthwith_o he_o be_v repute_v righteous_a not_o by_o circumcision_n at_o which_o time_n he_o have_v not_o receive_v it_o but_o by_o his_o only_a faith_n which_o be_v not_o testify_v of_o man_n but_o of_o god_n himself_o with_o who_o only_a abraham_n wrought_v this_o mystery_n at_o that_o time_n and_o god_n do_v impute_v unto_o he_o his_o justification_n when_o he_o have_v not_o perform_v the_o prescript_n of_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n wherefore_o if_o abraham_n the_o holy_a patriarche_n do_v not_o obtain_v his_o justification_n have_v no_o law_n at_o all_o give_v unto_o they_o and_o if_o the_o jew_n receive_v any_o reward_n for_o keep_v of_o the_o law_n it_o seem_v to_o be_v of_o duty_n upon_o the_o covenant_n that_o god_n make_v
which_o be_v bear_v under_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n shall_v have_v the_o promise_n of_o god_n pertain_v only_o unto_o they_o as_o their_o inheritance_n than_o it_o shall_v seem_v that_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n be_v vain_a &_o of_o none_o effect_n forasmuchas_o it_o be_v evident_o know_v that_o the_o benefit_n of_o god_n come_v to_o no_o man_n for_o the_o law_n sake_n yea_o so_o far_o the_o law_n be_v from_o justification_n and_o the_o give_v of_o this_o so_o high_a a_o benefit_n that_o it_o rather_o threaten_v we_o with_o the_o ire_n and_o indignation_n of_o god_n whereas_o contrariwise_o faith_n make_v the_o ungodly_a righteous_a neither_o can_v there_o be_v any_o inheritance_n of_o peace_n and_o rest_n for_o the_o child_n to_o have_v work_v where_o as_o nothing_o else_o be_v minister_v but_o sin_n and_o indignation_n and_o if_o you_o demand_v of_o i_o how_o it_o chance_v that_o the_o law_n rather_o minister_v ire_n than_o righteousness_n i_o will_v declare_v thus_o unto_o you_o you_o can_v make_v no_o man_n guilty_n of_o any_o crime_n unless_o in_o lay_v the_o law_n against_o he_o you_o open_v his_o fault_n unto_o he_o the_o knowledge_n of_o which_o fault_n the_o law_n minister_v and_o declare_v also_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n prescribe_v many_o thing_n of_o circumcision_n of_o the_o saboth_n day_n of_o the_o feast_n of_o the_o new_a moon_n of_o the_o difference_n of_o meat_n of_o mortuary_n of_o the_o strangle_v of_o blood_n of_o wash_v all_o which_o be_v of_o that_o condition_n that_o though_o they_o be_v observe_v yet_o they_o do_v not_o make_v a_o man_n righteous_a but_o he_o that_o transgress_v they_o be_v guilty_n and_o subject_n to_o punishment_n by_o mean_n of_o the_o law_n but_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n see_v it_o charge_v no_o body_n but_o only_o the_o jew_n and_o again_o see_v the_o inheritance_n of_o all_o nation_n be_v give_v of_o god_n unto_o abraham_n to_o be_v their_o father_n it_o be_v impossible_a that_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n shall_v appertain_v unto_o all_o nation_n through_o the_o benefit_n of_o the_o law_n which_o be_v only_o give_v to_o the_o nation_n of_o the_o jew_n it_o conclude_v therefore_o that_o the_o inheritance_n come_v by_o faith_n that_o our_o justification_n may_v be_v see_v to_o proceed_v of_o the_o only_a grace_n and_o favour_n of_o god_n and_o not_o of_o any_o covenant_n or_o observation_n of_o the_o law_n and_o thus_o it_o be_v know_v how_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n promise_n descend_v to_o abraham_n posterity_n and_o i_o do_v not_o mean_a all_o they_o only_o to_o be_v of_o abraham_n posterity_n which_o be_v either_o of_o his_o kindred_n or_o else_o join_v with_o he_o in_o the_o law_n but_o much_o rather_o all_o such_o as_o express_v abraham_n faith_n for_o it_o be_v much_o more_o expedient_a that_o the_o alliance_n and_o similitude_n of_o faith_n shall_v be_v of_o more_o efficacy_n by_o which_o he_o deserve_v to_o receive_v the_o promise_n of_o god_n than_o the_o alliance_n and_o conjunction_n of_o the_o law_n which_o engender_v offence_n and_o make_v man_n guilty_n of_o they_o therefore_o the_o jew_n be_v deceive_v to_o boast_v so_o much_o of_o abraham_n deceive_v as_o of_o their_o only_a and_o proper_a father_n see_v he_o be_v the_o father_n of_o all_o such_o nation_n and_o of_o all_o man_n of_o what_o country_n so_o ever_o they_o be_v that_o believe_v in_o our_o lord_n jesus_n chryst_n 51._o which_o thing_n appear_v by_o god_n himself_o in_o the_o xvij_o chapter_n of_o genesis_n when_o god_n change_v abraham_n name_n and_o say_v 17._o i_o have_v appoint_v thou_o to_o be_v the_o father_n of_o many_o nation_n sure_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v true_a that_o god_n he_o self_n say_v but_o how_o i_o pray_v you_o shall_v he_o be_v the_o father_n of_o many_o nation_n if_o he_o only_o belong_v unto_o the_o jew_n wherefore_o 17._o as_o the_o lord_n be_v universal_a to_o all_o man_n that_o believe_v in_o he_o so_o he_o will_v that_o abraham_n which_o be_v a_o figure_n of_o god_n and_o as_o isaac_n be_v also_o of_o christ_n shall_v be_v the_o universal_a father_n of_o all_o man_n that_o do_v represent_v he_o in_o the_o any_o tarry_n or_o once_o question_v at_o all_o believe_v the_o word_n of_o the_o promiser_n and_o know_v that_o he_o can_v revive_v he_o again_o and_o make_v they_o that_o be_v not_o to_o be_v again_o at_o his_o will_n and_o pleasure_n the_o jew_n do_v glory_n in_o themselves_o and_o account_v themselves_o worthy_a man_n and_o abhor_v the_o gentile_n as_o nothing_o worth_a at_o all_o but_o only_o declare_v the_o surety_n and_o constancy_n of_o the_o promiser_n but_o also_o his_o mightiness_n and_o omnipotency_n neither_o do_v he_o mistrust_v though_o he_o himself_o be_v past_o the_o strength_n and_o power_n to_o beget_v a_o child_n and_o his_o wife_n also_o barren_a to_o be_v for_o all_o that_o the_o father_n of_o many_o nation_n and_o to_o be_v the_o author_n &_o beginner_n of_o so_o great_a a_o multitude_n of_o people_n as_o god_n show_v he_o the_o same_o time_n star_n in_o the_o firmament_n for_o god_n bring_v he_o into_o the_o field_n &_o let_v he_o see_v a_o innumerable_a multitude_n of_o star_n round_o about_o the_o whole_a world_n and_o say_v 15._o as_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o thou_o to_o number_v those_o star_n that_o thou_o see_v so_o it_o shall_v be_v impossible_a for_o thou_o to_o number_v they_o that_o shall_v come_v of_o thy_o seed_n which_o thing_n though_o it_o seem_v not_o of_o reason_n to_o be_v true_a partly_o for_o the_o debility_n of_o despair_v in_o his_o own_o virtue_n and_o strength_n yet_o he_o take_v most_o sure_o hold_v through_o hope_n in_o the_o only_a virtue_n of_o the_o promiser_n and_o thus_o usurp_v nothing_o in_o this_o point_n to_o his_o own_o renown_n he_o refer_v all_o to_o the_o glory_n and_o laud_n of_o god_n who_o he_o testify_v by_o this_o his_o great_a faith_n to_o be_v both_o true_a which_o will_v deceive_v no_o man_n 114._o and_o also_o almighty_a which_o can_v perform_v what_o so_o ever_o he_o promise_v though_o it_o pass_v never_o so_o much_o the_o strength_n of_o man_n with_o this_o sort_n of_o sacrifice_n be_v god_n please_v which_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o no_o man_n help_n neither_o of_o his_o cunning_a or_o handy_a worâ—e_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n the_o scripture_n say_v that_o because_o he_o believe_v god_n wherefore_o we_o see_v none_o other_o way_n to_o come_v to_o justification_n &_o to_o be_v save_v 1_n but_o to_o believe_v in_o the_o same_o god_n through_o
which_o what_o so_o ever_o he_o promise_v unto_o abraham_n in_o his_o posterity_n he_o have_v perform_v it_o unto_o we_o moses_n in_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n who_o he_o restore_v again_o from_o death_n to_o life_n declare_v thereby_o that_o abraham_n do_v not_o believe_v amiss_o which_o trust_v that_o he_o can_v give_v life_n to_o the_o dead_a and_o to_o make_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o for_o to_o be_v we_o ought_v not_o therefore_o to_o give_v our_o thank_n unto_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n for_o our_o justification_n but_o whole_o &_o altogether_o to_o christ_n which_o â—â—â—ly_o yield_v himself_o to_o death_n to_o put_v away_o our_o sin_n without_o our_o desert_n and_o the_o same_o rose_n again_o from_o death_n to_o the_o end_n we_o shall_v abstain_v from_o deadly_a thing_n and_o never_o after_o commit_v such_o enormity_n and_o sin_n as_o christ_n die_v for_o i_o say_v therefore_o that_o christ_n die_v to_o kill_v our_o sin_n in_o we_o and_o the_o same_o gospel_n 3_n all_o that_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n stand_v steadfast_o in_o faith_n neither_o stand_v they_o all_o only_a with_o light_n and_o mercy_n heart_n but_o also_o rejoice_v and_o glory_n as_o well_o for_o that_o they_o be_v atone_v with_o god_n as_o also_o to_o have_v sure_a hope_n show_v unto_o they_o that_o for_o the_o continuance_n of_o their_o faith_n they_o shall_v once_o come_v to_o the_o eternal_a glory_n of_o god_n and_o as_o we_o envy_v not_o the_o jew_n though_o they_o glory_n in_o their_o circumcision_n so_o it_o repent_v we_o not_o of_o our_o faith_n which_o bring_v to_o we_o so_o great_a fruit_n neither_o yet_o â—â—e_z we_o for_o think_v our_o rejoice_n by_o hope_n whereof_o we_o be_v most_o happy_o comfort_v &_o set_v at_o a_o sure_a stay_n the_o which_o though_o it_o do_v not_o yet_o appear_v but_o most_o suffer_v many_o thing_n before_o we_o come_v unto_o it_o gospel_n yet_o we_o account_v our_o affliction_n and_o trouble_n of_o great_a glory_n and_o praise_n which_o we_o suffer_v in_o the_o mean_a time_n and_o shall_v open_v the_o way_n for_o we_o into_o immortality_n for_o we_o have_v receive_v this_o example_n and_o mighty_a doctrine_n of_o christ_n himself_o that_o in_o suffer_a affliction_n patient_a be_v make_v strong_a and_o by_o patience_n we_o be_v render_v unto_o god_n and_o prove_v daily_o amongst_o man_n again_o the_o more_o that_o we_o be_v prove_v by_o perplexity_n and_o trouble_n so_o much_o the_o more_o strong_a be_v our_o hope_n of_o reward_n neither_o shall_v we_o doubt_v or_o fear_n that_o our_o hope_n will_v deceive_v we_o and_o forsake_v we_o or_o be_v once_o ashamed_a that_o we_o have_v believe_v in_o as_o much_o as_o we_o have_v a_o sure_a earnest_n or_o gage_n that_o it_o be_v his_o wonderful_a he_o and_o therein_o to_o suffer_v death_n yea_o the_o most_o cruel_a and_o shameful_a death_n for_o we_o which_o be_v abandon_v and_o give_v over_o to_o all_o filthy_a and_o dissolute_a live_n this_o death_n to_o live_v for_o evermore_o by_o who_o only_a puissant_a and_o triumphant_a death_n see_v we_o be_v now_o reconcile_v unto_o god_n which_o before_o be_v grievous_o offend_v with_o we_o to_o his_o life_n shall_v maintain_v the_o lovely_a freedom_n of_o his_o father_n towards_o we_o these_o be_v such_o evident_a token_n of_o god_n almighty_a love_n towards_o we_o that_o we_o may_v not_o only_o we_o sure_o with_o firm_a hope_n and_o confidence_n that_o we_o be_v safe_a from_o his_o ire_n to_o come_v but_o also_o they_o lively_o encourage_v we_o to_o rejoice_v in_o the_o same_o not_o
