antecedent_n to_o distinguish_v it_o from_o a_o contingent_a antecedent_n not_o that_o the_o whole_a nature_n of_o a_o instrumental_a cause_n consist_v in_o this_o for_o a_o thing_n may_v be_v a_o necessary_a antecedent_n and_o yet_o not_o a_o cause_n of_o the_o thing_n as_o the_o open_n of_o a_o man_n eye_n be_v a_o necessary_a antecedent_n to_o sight_n but_o not_o a_o cause_n of_o sight_n
