now_o thou_o be_v more_o peaceable_a more_o apt_a to_o forgive_v less_o censorious_a have_v not_o so_o much_o of_o that_o divide_v spirit_n that_o former_o thou_o have_v do_v thou_o grow_v i_o say_v in_o sweetness_n therefore_o if_o thou_o grow_v so_o so_o much_o in_o heat_n this_o be_v the_o fatness_n and_o the_o sweetness_n of_o the_o growth_n and_o there_o be_v great_a comfort_n in_o this_o nine_o in_o the_o last_o place_n as_o david_n say_v of_o the_o covenant_n of_o god_n and_o his_o family_n though_o he_o make_v it_o not_o to_o grow_v yet_o say_v he_o this_o be_v all_o my_o hope_n and_o all_o my_o salvation_n yet_o he_o trust_v in_o he_o 5._o it_o be_v god_n that_o make_v it_o to_o grow_v brethren_n and_o he_o be_v free_a and_o rich_a in_o his_o influence_n and_o what_o if_o he_o make_v it_o not_o to_o grow_v for_o a_o time_n what_o then_o will_v thou_o question_v all_o his_o work_n in_o thou_o no_o no_o but_o rather_o labour_v to_o believe_v it_o away_o here_o be_v many_o promise_n trust_v in_o he_o though_o he_o make_v it_o not_o to_o grow_v hang_v upon_o he_o still_o for_o this_o growth_n and_o if_o he_o still_o make_v it_o not_o to_o grow_v yet_o still_o make_v this_o thy_o salvation_n his_o covenant_n if_o he_o see_v not_o such_o a_o measure_n fit_a for_o thou_o be_v humble_v for_o what_o thou_o find_v to_o be_v the_o obstruction_n but_o cast_v not_o away_o thy_o confidence_n though_o he_o make_v it_o not_o to_o grow_v and_o thus_o much_o for_o this_o finis_fw-la christ_n his_o willingness_n to_o accept_v humble_v sinner_n john_n 6._o 37._o and_o hungry_a belly_n and_o here_o if_o ever_o be_v make_v good_a that_o that_o man_n live_v not_o by_o bread_n alone_o but_o by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o so_o it_o be_v when_o he_o have_v never_o so_o much_o much_o more_o where_o he_o have_v but_o little_a and_o inconsiderable_a have_v but_o pulse_n instead_o of_o dainty_a fare_n a_o cruse_a of_o oil_n a_o little_a meal_n i_o say_v after_o this_o miracle_n our_o saviour_n have_v win_v so_o far_o upon_o their_o affection_n if_o not_o their_o understanding_n though_o very_o carnal_a they_o conclude_v this_o be_v that_o prophet_n which_o they_o expect_v ver_fw-la 14._o that_o be_v to_o say_v a_o special_a prophet_n beside_o john_n the_o baptist_n or_o elias_n as_o they_o think_v he_o shall_v come_v again_o be_v bear_v again_o misunderstand_v that_o place_n in_o mal._n 4._o and_o beside_o christ_n the_o messiah_n they_o expect_v another_o prophet_n before_o he_o as_o the_o ancient_n chrysost_n theoph._n cyril_n and_o beza_n also_o conceive_v and_o seem_v very_o plain_a in_o that_o place_n of_o john_n why_o do_v thou_o baptise_v if_o thou_o neither_o be_v elias_n nor_o that_o prophet_n nor_o yet_o the_o christ_n 25._o where_o he_o be_v distinguish_v from_o christ_n and_o yet_o i_o think_v here_o they_o be_v carry_v further_o in_o their_o apprehension_n of_o christ_n then_o to_o take_v he_o for_o such_o a_o prophet_n for_o say_v the_o text_n our_o saviour_n 15._o see_v that_o they_o will_v come_v and_o take_v he_o by_o violence_n to_o make_v he_o 23._o king_n he_o withdraw_v himself_o into_o a_o mount_n ver_fw-la 15._o therefore_o it_o shall_v seem_v they_o have_v some_o kind_n of_o flash_n that_o he_o be_v the_o messiah_n according_a to_o their_o carnal_a conceit_n of_o the_o messiah_n that_o he_o shall_v be_v a_o temporal_a king_n and_o come_v in_o pomp_n they_o will_v needs_o now_o make_v he_o king_n well_o our_o saviour_n now_o go_v to_o his_o disciple_n upon_o the_o sea_n and_o when_o he_o come_v into_o the_o ship_n it_o be_v forthwith_o ashore_o o_o how_o sweet_o and_o swift_o do_v any_o work_n of_o christ_n or_o for_o christ_n go_v on_o when_o he_o himself_o be_v with_o we_o the_o multitude_n they_o follow_v he_o their_o belly_n all_o this_o while_n be_v their_o instructer_n their_o god_n and_o their_o guide_n you_o follow_v i_o because_o of_o the_o loaf_n say_v our_o saviour_n and_o therefore_o he_o take_v this_o occasion_n to_o stir_v they_o up_o to_o seek_v for_o that_o food_n that_o perish_v not_o they_o be_v sensible_a of_o the_o hunger_n of_o their_o belly_n and_o be_v take_v with_o his_o power_n to_o make_v such_o provision_n for_o the_o body_n even_o where_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o comparison_n o_o but_o their_o poor_a soul_n be_v in_o a_o starve_a condition_n and_o they_o be_v not_o sensible_a of_o this_o and_o therefore_o our_o saviour_n endeavour_v to_o raise_v their_o apprehension_n somewhat_o high_a spend_v much_o of_o the_o chapter_n afterward_o in_o set_v forth_o himself_o the_o true_a the_o spiritual_a shewbread_n or_o bread_n of_o face_n if_o they_o have_v but_o stomach_n and_o appetite_n suitable_a to_o the_o necessity_n of_o their_o poor_a perish_a soul_n but_o alas_o they_o have_v not_o aseeing_a eye_n nor_o a_o hear_n ear_n nor_o a_o believe_a heart_n when_o they_o hear_v of_o 9_o bread_n of_o which_o if_o they_o do_v eat_v they_o shall_v never_o hunger_n lord_n give_v we_o this_o bread_n say_v they_o but_o they_o know_v not_o well_o what_o they_o say_v for_o alas_o this_o bread_n be_v tender_v to_o they_o but_o they_o have_v no_o mind_n to_o it_o as_o the_o fountain_n of_o water_n be_v near_o to_o hagar_n but_o she_o see_v 15._o it_o not_o so_o the_o bread_n of_o life_n be_v now_o offer_v himself_o to_o they_o but_o they_o know_v it_o not_o and_o therefore_o our_o saviour_n reprove_v they_o you_o also_o say_v he_o have_v see_v i_o and_o yet_o believe_v not_o this_o bread_n be_v spiritual_a i_o be_o the_o bread_n but_o spiritual_o understand_v for_o it_o be_v the_o spirit_n that_o quicken_v but_o the_o flesh_n profit_v nothing_o say_v he_o even_o to_o his_o own_o disciple_n who_o be_v already_o stumble_v at_o this_o sermon_n of_o he_o concern_v eat_n he_o flesh_n and_o drink_v his_o blood_n but_o say_v our_o saviour_n you_o believe_v not_o that_o be_v to_o say_v you_o will_v not_o take_v of_o this_o bread_n eat_v of_o it_o receive_v and_o apply_v the_o benefit_n of_o my_o death_n and_o resurrection_n and_o ascension_n and_o intercession_n and_o all_o i_o understand_v by_o this_o bread_n in_o a_o spiritual_a sense_n whereby_o the_o soul_n be_v nourish_v to_o eternal_a life_n and_o this_o be_v a_o sad_a symptom_n unto_o they_o that_o they_o be_v not_o belong_v to_o god_n purpose_n of_o grace_n they_o have_v little_a ground_n to_o conclude_v it_o as_o yet_o for_o our_o saviour_n say_v all_o that_o the_o father_n have_v give_v i_o shall_v come_v as_o yet_o you_o believe_v not_o you_o have_v not_o

come_v to_o i_o with_o hungry_a soul_n though_o you_o have_v follow_v i_o with_o hungry_a belly_n for_o the_o loaf_n but_o if_o you_o belong_v to_o the_o election_n if_o you_o be_v of_o those_o the_o father_n have_v give_v to_o i_o from_o eternity_n you_o shall_v come_v and_o he_o that_o come_v unto_o i_o i_o will_v in_o no_o wise_a etc._n etc._n and_o he_o that_o come_v unto_o i_o the_o copulative_a and_o speak_v as_o great_a a_o latitude_n of_o the_o subject_n speak_v of_o as_o you_o have_v in_o the_o former_a part_n of_o the_o verse_n all_o that_o the_o father_n have_v give_v shall_v come_v so_o the_o greek_n use_v the_o neuter-gender_n to_o express_v universality_n though_o they_o speak_v of_o person_n all_o that_o be_v give_v shall_v come_v and_o he_o that_o come_v be_v give_v of_o his_o father_n for_o indeed_o there_o be_v none_o else_o that_o do_v come_v to_o the_o son_n but_o such_o you_o believe_v not_o say_v he_o but_o all_o that_o the_o father_n have_v give_v shall_v come_v if_o you_o be_v not_o of_o that_o number_n you_o may_v never_o come_v to_o i_o and_o then_o whosoever_o come_v unto_o i_o i_o will_v in_o no_o wise_a east_n he_o out_o our_o saviour_n in_o these_o word_n have_v give_v we_o to_o understand_v what_o welcome_n what_o entertainment_n we_o shall_v be_v sure_a to_o have_v with_o he_o if_o we_o come_v to_o he_o he_o will_v not_o cast_v out_o any_o such_o soul_n so_o that_o at_o once_o he_o have_v stop_v the_o mouth_n or_o prevent_v and_o cut_v off_o the_o occasion_n of_o many_o doubt_n whereby_o satan_n and_o a_o man_n own_o heart_n be_v very_o busy_a to_o block_n up_o our_o way_n to_o christ_n that_o we_o shall_v not_o come_v o_o i_o know_v not_o what_o success_n i_o shall_v have_v if_o i_o go_v to_o he_o i_o may_v haply_o be_v refuse_v and_o it_o be_v as_o good_a sit_v still_o as_o rise_v and_o fall_v we_o use_v to_o say_v thus_o we_o be_v apt_a to_o be_v answer_v ourselves_o before_o we_o come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n now_o our_o saviour_n to_o cut_v off_o all_o such_o excuse_n as_o these_o and_o to_o embolden_v we_o and_o encourage_v we_o have_v make_v this_o free_a this_o general_a this_o positive_a declaration_n of_o his_o willingness_n to_o receive_v we_o if_o we_o come_v to_o he_o he_o will_v not_o in_o any_o wise_a cast_n out_o any_o soul_n the_o word_n will_v not_o need_v any_o division_n and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v before_o we_o speak_v any_o further_a to_o they_o make_v the_o observation_n which_o be_v this_o the_o lord_n jesus_n will_v not_o cast_v out_o any_o poor_a soul_n that_o come_v to_o he_o there_o be_v no_o more_o change_n of_o they_o than_o what_o necessity_n require_v he_o speak_v of_o himself_o use_v the_o first_o person_n we_o speak_v of_o he_o must_v use_v the_o three_o and_o this_o variation_n be_v nothing_o this_o note_n i_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o explain_v prove_v confirm_v and_o apply_v to_o we_o all_o first_o then_o for_o the_o open_n of_o the_o doctrine_n first_o what_o be_v mean_v by_o come_v unto_o jesus_n christ_n and_o second_o what_o be_v mean_v by_o cast_v out_o which_o he_o promise_v he_o will_v not_o do_v if_o any_o man_n come_v unto_o he_o for_o the_o first_o then_o what_o it_o be_v to_o come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n not_o to_o speak_v of_o that_o which_o be_v necessary_o presuppose_v that_o we_o be_v all_o of_o we_o by_o nature_n far_o off_o from_o jesus_n christ_n and_o stranger_n from_o 13._o the_o life_n of_o god_n and_o covenant_n of_o promise_n enemy_n to_o god_n and_o to_o christ_n and_o to_o our_o own_o salvation_n we_o be_v miserable_a and_o be_v content_a to_o be_v so_o will_v be_v so_o but_o that_o i_o shall_v leave_v building_n upon_o it_o as_o a_o thing_n grant_v by_o all_o that_o it_o be_v so_o with_o we_o by_o nature_n 14._o every_o mother_n child_n yea_o however_o we_o may_v seem_v to_o be_v near_o and_o have_v a_o outward_a nearness_n as_o the_o jew_n be_v say_v to_o be_v his_o 28._o people_n near_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n so_o it_o may_v be_v with_o we_o at_o the_o present_a that_o be_v to_o say_v the_o lord_n open_v heaven_n and_o le_fw-fr we_o down_o the_o white_a sheet_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o we_o wherein_o we_o have_v all_o variety_n of_o heaven_n in_o our_o lord_n jesus_n and_o the_o voice_n be_v arise_v and_o eat_v come_v and_o eat_v and_o drink_v and_o live_v but_o alas_o our_o heart_n be_v so_o far_o from_o it_o that_o we_o turn_v our_o back_n upon_o it_o and_o thus_o it_o be_v with_o every_o one_o of_o we_o until_o the_o lord_n proceed_v further_a with_o we_o therefore_o in_o the_o first_o place_n brethren_n to_o come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n in_o the_o order_n of_o nature_n do_v immediate_o presuppose_v a_o hear_n and_o learn_v of_o god_n in_o time_n haply_o they_o may_v agree_v and_o this_o i_o speak_v of_o because_o i_o neither_o myself_o will_v give_v you_o a_o effect_n without_o show_v you_o the_o dependence_n upon_o its_o cause_n lest_o some_o may_v fasten_v it_o upon_o a_o false_a root_n a_o false_a cause_n and_o so_o put_v a_o fallacy_n upon_o themselves_o this_o you_o have_v plain_o in_o the_o 45._o ver_fw-la of_o this_o chapter_n whosoever_o therefore_o have_v hear_v and_o learn_v of_o the_o father_n come_v unto_o i_o where_o note_v the_o difference_n of_o the_o tense_n or_o time_n in_o the_o text_n whosoever_o have_v hear_v and_o learn_v do_v come_v and_o therefore_o he_o come_v because_o he_o have_v hear_v and_o learn_v this_o be_v god_n teach_v and_o man_n learning_n they_o shall_v be_v all_o teach_v of_o god_n all_o who_o all_o that_o be_v in_o the_o womb_n of_o god_n purpose_n all_o that_o he_o will_v bring_v in_o to_o jesus_n christ_n as_o he_o have_v give_v to_o jesus_n christ_n not_o simple_o all_o man_n for_o we_o see_v by_o daily_a experience_n contrary_a how_o many_o dye_n and_o never_o hear_v of_o christ_n how_o many_o that_o hear_v of_o he_o that_o never_o learn_v any_o thing_n at_o all_o and_o so_o do_v not_o come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n yea_o how_o many_o that_o seem_v to_o come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n and_o make_v a_o profession_n and_o yet_o depart_v from_o he_o be_v leave_v to_o their_o own_o heart_n to_o depart_v which_o be_v a_o kind_n of_o cast_v out_o as_o those_o disciple_n afterward_o many_o of_o they_o go_v backward_o be_v offend_v at_o our_o saviour_n speech_n concern_v eat_n he_o flesh_n and_o drink_v his_o blood_n and_o never_o walk_v with_o he_o any_o more_o therefore_o by_o the_o way_n note_v it_o a_o man_n may_v be_v a_o disciple_n that_o never_o learn_v be_v never_o teach_v of_o god_n for_o all_o that_o be_v thus_o teach_v of_o god_n and_o learn_v they_o do_v come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n and_o they_o that_o so_o come_v to_o christ_n he_o say_v he_o will_v never_o cast_v they_o out_o 33._o as_o we_o shall_v see_v more_o afterward_o well_o but_o this_o hear_n and_o learn_v of_o the_o father_n be_v as_o much_o as_o be_v teach_v of_o god_n which_o in_o order_n go_v before_o the_o conversion_n of_o a_o sinner_n or_o his_o come_n to_o christ_n whatever_o it_o be_v in_o time_n and_o if_o this_o scripture_n will_v prove_v the_o needlesness_n of_o ordinance_n now_o to_o grow_v believer_n it_o will_v prove_v it_o as_o well_o to_o new_o convert_v for_o these_o be_v teach_v of_o god_n as_o well_o as_o grow_v believer_n or_o else_o they_o can_v never_o come_v to_o christ_n and_o if_o they_o be_v not_o necessary_a neither_o for_o the_o one_o nor_o for_o the_o other_o to_o what_o end_n do_v the_o most_o wise_a governor_n of_o the_o world_n and_o of_o the_o church_n appoint_v they_o for_o nothing_o but_o that_o by_o the_o by_o i_o say_v this_o be_v as_o much_o as_o be_v teach_v of_o god_n as_o the_o evangelist_n show_v in_o the_o 45._o verse_n bring_v that_o prophecy_n they_o shall_v be_v all_o teach_v of_o god_n and_o make_v this_o inference_n from_o it_o whosoever_o therefore_o hear_v and_o learn_v of_o the_o father_n come_v unto_o i_o again_o this_o be_v teach_v of_o god_n it_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o the_o draw_n of_o the_o father_n as_o you_o have_v it_o in_o the_o 44._o verse_n no_o man_n come_v unto_o i_o except_o the_o father_n which_o have_v send_v i_o draw_v he_o it_o be_v write_v in_o the_o prophet_n they_o shall_v be_v all_o teach_v of_o god_n therefore_o i_o conceive_v that_o this_o hear_n and_o learning_n may_v be_v understand_v thus_o first_o by_o hear_v i_o understand_v the_o usual_a mean_n of_o salvation_n and_o work_v of_o faith_n and_o that_o be_v the_o word_n of_o christ_n the_o gospel_n of_o salvation_n
