will_v fall_v more_o heavy_a upon_o they_o after_o so_o many_o and_o great_a provocation_n if_o they_o miscarry_v therein_o and_o of_o that_o the_o danger_n be_v great_a than_o can_v easy_o be_v foresee_v and_o to_o the_o kingdom_n in_o general_n the_o peace_n and_o prosperity_n whereof_o they_o ought_v to_o desire_v and_o endeavour_v upon_o the_o account_n both_o of_o natural_a duty_n and_o of_o interest_n for_o whatever_o some_o who_o do_v not_o well_o consider_v it_o may_v promise_v themselves_o those_o who_o have_v estate_n and_o fortune_n here_o be_v their_o religion_n what_o it_o will_v be_v like_a to_o have_v their_o share_n of_o whatever_o public_a calamity_n or_o mischief_n be_v bring_v upon_o the_o nation_n which_o they_o who_o at_o rome_n and_o from_o other_o foreign_a part_n do_v steer_v the_o motion_n of_o the_o emissary_n and_o other_o stickler_n here_o in_o that_o cause_n be_v not_o much_o concern_v to_o consider_v ***_o 4._o and_o last_o to_o those_o who_o either_o through_o weakness_n and_o inconsiderateness_n be_v scandalize_v at_o these_o and_o such_o like_a wicked_a practice_n of_o the_o romanist_n or_o any_o other_o profess_v christianity_n or_o through_o wilfulness_n and_o wickedness_n do_v make_v use_n thereof_o to_o confirm_v or_o encourage_v themselves_o in_o their_o affect_a infidelity_n who_o have_v first_o sin_v themselves_o into_o despair_n of_o any_o good_a by_o the_o observance_n of_o religion_n at_o last_o seek_v to_o encourage_v themselves_o against_o all_o fear_n of_o evil_a by_o the_o neglect_n of_o it_o this_o last_o sort_n i_o intend_v not_o among_o christian_n in_o general_a and_o yet_o do_v here_o join_v they_o with_o the_o other_o sort_n here_o mention_v because_o what_o be_v to_o be_v say_v to_o those_o may_v be_v say_v also_o to_o these_o the_o scandal_n and_o ill_a use_n that_o be_v make_v of_o these_o practice_n be_v either_o more_o particular_a from_o abuse_n of_o pretend_a miracle_n and_o martyrdom_n whereby_o some_o may_v be_v induce_v to_o doubt_v of_o the_o ancient_a christian_a miracle_n and_o martyr_n and_o for_o satisfaction_n in_o this_o particular_a i_o shall_v here_o for_o brevity_n sake_n refer_v they_o to_o the_o writing_n already_o write_v and_o extant_a in_o print_n some_o in_o the_o english_a tongue_n of_o the_o verity_n of_o the_o christian_a religion_n or_o from_o such_o practice_n in_o general_a of_o man_n in_o great_a place_n in_o church_n or_o state_n or_o repute_v for_o learning_n as_o be_v think_v inconsistent_a with_o a_o real_a belief_n of_o what_o they_o possess_v whence_o some_o who_o affect_v to_o know_v more_o than_o the_o vulgar_a will_n needs_o persuade_v themselves_o and_o other_o that_o all_o such_o be_v atheist_n and_o infidel_n and_o thereupon_o bring_v all_o religion_n under_o a_o suspicion_n of_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o more_o refine_a piece_n of_o policy_n and_o because_o i_o have_v find_v by_o experience_n that_o many_o have_v no_o better_a argument_n for_o their_o affect_a infidelity_n than_o this_o and_o yet_o few_o of_o those_o who_o have_v write_v of_o the_o verity_n of_o the_o christian_a religion_n have_v take_v any_o notice_n of_o it_o or_o think_v it_o worth_a a_o particular_a answer_n i_o shall_v recommend_v these_o thing_n to_o their_o consideration_n 1._o that_o this_o be_v no_o argument_n or_o evidence_n against_o religion_n but_o only_o a_o bare_a suppose_a opinion_n and_o judgement_n of_o such_o person_n without_o any_o evident_a and_o express_a ground_n or_o reason_n for_o it_o 2._o that_o the_o opinion_n or_o judgement_n of_o great_a statesman_n or_o scholar_n mere_o as_o such_o be_v of_o no_o great_a authority_n in_o this_o particular_a than_o the_o judgement_n or_o opinion_n of_o other_o man_n for_o such_o man_n may_v in_o general_a well_o deserve_v that_o reputation_n which_o they_o have_v and_o yet_o be_v utter_o ignorant_a of_o those_o principle_n which_o be_v necessary_a to_o be_v know_v to_o ground_n a_o judgement_n in_o this_o case_n there_o be_v very_o rare_o find_v any_o man_n that_o be_v well_o skill_v in_o all_o the_o part_n of_o learning_n or_o of_o some_o one_o profession_n as_o for_o example_n of_o the_o law_n some_o be_v good_a conveyancer_n who_o be_v very_o unskilful_a in_o bar-practice_n many_o good_a chancery-man_n who_o be_v no_o great_a common_a lawyer_n etc._n etc._n so_o in_o divinity_n some_o be_v well_o skill_v in_o textual_a some_o in_o polemical_a or_o scholastical_a some_o in_o casuistical_a divinity_n and_o yet_o but_o mean_o skill_v in_o the_o other_o part_n of_o it_o and_o this_o part_n which_o consider_v the_o evidence_n of_o religion_n be_v but_o rare_o study_v by_o any_o but_o such_o as_o have_v to_o do_v with_o infidel_n each_o man_n ordinary_o apply_v himself_o especial_o to_o
